BEHIND THE SCENES

Also, my long time friend Darnell met up with me to help document some behind the scenes photos! Thank you boo! Too bad we couldn't all get a group picture. I didn't even have any decent photo with Jerry either. I guess there's always next time! :)

on location, I'm helping Jerry put on his outfit...

alright, down to business

reviewing the images we have so far...

I really hope you love the shoot as much as I do, because personally, it is my best shoot to date simply because of its cohesion and content. Me and Jerry had been planning back and forth about this shoot for a while before actually meeting up and make it happen, ideas from themes, locations, clothes, vibe, etc.

The title of this editorial came from what I learned in Art History class, during the 18th century when thinkers and philosophers had all these great thoughts and ideas, and it was the age of reason. However, this shoot was particularly inspired by Jerry's background story, as he's growing older and finished school in the medical field a while ago because his parents wanted him to, but now he's done and kind of lost in the world trying to pursue his true passion which is art and fashion... so I was like hmmm... you know he's still debating and reasoning about what to do in life, and it's bittersweet. Another inspiration was "post-apocalyptic urban nomad" a la Miharayasuhiro's mens collections, like he woke up one day and the world has left him behind and now he's on a journey through concrete, the woods, and finally reaching the sea... to come full circle with himself.

And I just want to reiterate that wonderful quote by Rainer Maria Rilke:

“In this there is no measuring with time. A year doesn't matter; ten years are nothing. To be an artist means not to compute or count; it means to ripen as the tree, which does not force its sap, but stands unshaken in the storms of Spring with no fear that Summer might not follow. It will come regardless. But it comes only to those who live as though eternity stretches before them, carefree, silent, and endless. I learn it daily, learn it with many pains, for which I am grateful: Patience is all!”

  3. QUAN!! this shoot is my favorite thus far as well. you've evolved so much since the beginning! you have an ability to capture the rawness and beauty into a picture. also, you have your own signature style and way of shooting, which defines an artist. all of these pics from this shoot are my fav, they're so haunting. :)
