GET CURRIED AWAY

Besides creating visual arts, I also cook... I guess cooking is an art itself. I didn't cook much before when living with my mom, but of course throughout the years seeing her cook, I was taking notes with my mind. Now I am here alone in New York, I have to cook and provide for myself. I've been cooking like mad ever since I moved back, you could say I got a little Curried Away. I think the act of cooking and providing food for yourself is a very primal thing, a way of survival. Life.

So, I've been cooking different dishes for myself and my roommates, some dishes from my mom and some I remixed it myself. Today, I just decided to document, my little adventurous first time trying to make these Curry Buns, and a side of bacon stir fried green beans. I think it might have been better if I had steamed it but... practice makes perfect! LET'S EAT!!!!!!!!

SPICY CURRY CHICKEN BUNS

(with bacon stir-fried green beans)

ingredients: eggs, yeast, flour, water, sugar, oil, etc...

mix eggs, yeast, oil, water, and then add flour...

kneed the dough before letting it sit to rise

japanese curry paste, oil, sugar, salt, Cayenne pepper, and curry powder!~

peel potatoes and carrots, cut them up with the chicken...

mmmm... it smells so good already... let it reduce and simmer down...

the dough has risen, cut it up in slices, now stuff the curry chicken in it!

BACON STIR-FRIED GREEN BEANS

cut up the green beans, green onions --- stir in some oil, black bean paste, and soy sauce!

mmmm... the buns are baked, crispy and ready!!!!!!! :O

SERVE IT UP! LET'S EAT!!!!!~~~

  1. Delish! I generally use the golden curry for West Indian-style Roti ( using the curry stew you did, switching out the carrots for channa/chick peas) with the Roti skins/flatbread made with Ghee as the wrap... I like this idea of baking the curry 'in' the wrap, instead... Will try it!
