Exiting Euphoria

I don't want to let people down or being let down when things doesn't work out. A connection you have with your family is easier since it's already natural, but a connection you build with another person takes lots of time, trust, and overall investment.
I then think of how New York City isn't so much of the big city to find love as I have dreamt about during my teenage years. People here are very cold, everyone is too into themselves to notice anyone... let alone invest in others; to actually take time out and get to know people. That's a lot of time and effort. I'm still very much a romantic; a hopeless one for sure. I find romance in my sketchbook, I find romance in the dead flower by the sidewalk, I find romance in waiting for the subway train. Everyone is subconsciously searching for companionship, some just have a more focused head than heart, I think.
Why am I still holding on to memories of people that have already become part of the past? Why are we so selfish? Why can't we just let them go? Why do we have to waste our time hanging on to things that we never had to begin with?! Blah! I'm just rambling here... but I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm learning the art of letting go. I'm in between 'caring too much' and 'not caring at all' — I'm just slowly exiting euphoria.

ReplyDeletehate to break it to you but love is really hard to find in NY. I've lived here all my life. People come to NY to become someone, be successful not to find love. That's why I'll probably move to Europe to find myself someone to sweep me off my feet ;P
