next day, on the way to Sephora to see Utada Hikaru!!!
I met new friends! Wendy from a Utada forum, and a japanese friend, Mai, she is vacationing in New York and going back to Japan tomorrow! I just met her while waiting in line, lol... and she came with us the whole night to party! I felt like I was in Lost In Translation cause she doesn't speak much english!
Peter came after work, we saved him a spot
they passed out yellow wristbands for those who waited so early in the cold with a guaranteed spot inside the store later
OMG! HERE SHE COMES!!! UTADA!!!!
too bad, there was no signing, or face-time... just interview, listen to her CD, and we all stood there to watch
BUT when we leave, they passed out pre-signed pictures of the lucky few who had yellow wristbands
Mai and Peter came late, so they didn't get wristbands... HOWEVER, I had an idea to cut off the extra piece of my wristband and slip it into their gloves, so the bouncers just saw a piece of yellow and let us all INSIDE... haha! asian trick!
May met up with us after work... we went to get our drink and Karaoke on!
Oh! and since there was no signing, so I couldn't give Utada my artwork personally, so after she left, they said if we have any presents for her, we can give it to them, and they will give it to her! I hope she gets it!!! ahhhhh! I wrote a note with a link to this blog too! LOL. come onnn Hikki-san!!!

ReplyDeleteThat is fucking awesome, Quan! I don't listen to much J music but when I do, it is always Utada!!!! I remember singing her songs from video games with my younger brother in the car. That was back when I use to play a little bit with him.. sister-brother bonding. lol. I'm so happy you made this trip :-)

Oh my god Utada is so awesome, and the album turned out good too. ^^
ReplyDeleteHer 1st performance in USA wasn't cool due to her nervousness, but the 2nd at CBS is too good enough =X.
I hope her will have a big promotion for this album to not let it flop. Apple $ Cinamon or MerryXmas Mr Lawrence is fantastic to be 2nd single.
Wish that when her album turn out to be a physical CD at May 12 is sold well =X. I already asked my friends to buy me her album when thay comeback to VN.

what the hell, i live in new york and didn't even know she had an event! i suck! i watched the video you posted. she's so amazing: her songs "first love" and "flavour of life" are still some of my favourite songs of all time.
