Hello again! I know I've been super busy now that I've graduated. Got a new gig to shoot for, and also moving back to New York soon. Anyhow, I'm back with another creative vomit. Here's my latest and greatest project yet, a new photoshoot featuring my dear friend and muse, Lina Zoo. This shoot is a testament of our growth as friends and as artists.
What makes this shoot even more special is that I made that red chiffon dress she's wearing in the first half of the editorial! Very easy, and chic, a belt works wonder. The theme or rather, inspirations was contrast and contradictions, supple and brittle, organic and geometric, something soft like a flower with something harsh like a massacre (a carnage) and a slight hint of religious symbolism, and sort of influence by "Day Of The Dead" a spanish holiday (Día de los Muertos) overall, it's just about expressing womankind and being strong-willed.

THE MAKING OF THE DRESS + HEADBAND

the sketch of my ideas for the dress & headband, super simple and chic

cutting the red chiffon

and the sewing has begun... working late at night! :(

next morning, gathering the neckline to make pleated ruffles

ironing in the interfacing strip to make the neck sturdy

making tissue paper roses headband with spikes and glue gun! super easy!
DAY OF THE SHOOT

this is the first time Lina tried on the dress, fits perfectly!

I keep saying the same thing when you post a new shoot, but this has got to be my favorite one.
ReplyDeleteThat red chiffon dress is LOVE. PURE LOVE. It makes me feel like an inadequate fashion designer, but at the same time inspires me to keep working harder.

Have I told you have amazing you are? ;) Your talent is beyond words to me. The music you've chosen along with your display of images works perfectly together. If you present your work at an art gallery, this song should be played right along! I see the connection between all of the photos and your concept is brilliant! Love the roses with the skulls. I really do get that "Day of the Dead" vibe. Love Love LOVE!
