Finally got around to recapping my first trip ever to Los Angeles. I know, I know — how is that possible?! Don't get me wrong, I go to California all the time, but up North in San Francisco and I really liked its chill vibes so I kept revisiting. The reason why I shied away from L.A. is from my misconception of it being vain and superficial which is partially true because of Hollywood. BUT everyone everywhere can be vain and superficial.
So after 12 years of waiting, I made my first trip down to south California and realized how much I was missing out. It changed my point of view, that there's more to L.A. than just West Hollywood. There's so much space and light. I am in love — it is like a BIG movie set, vastly freeing, and infinitely creative; when you love something you gotta love all of it right? Now I can fully say I love California!
Though I have to say what made my trip so satisfying was the company I kept. Thank you to the best hosts; my friends Jimmy & Chris.. and their pals at their Haus of 321 in historic Filipinotown right by Silver Lake / Echo Park. I personally believe the result of the trip depends a lot on who's on the road with you! I was really happy to just be there, meeting new friends while catching up with old ones.
My friends drove me to see the iconic Vasquez Rocks park, down to Orange County, to Venice and Santa Monica beaches, chilled out at the Ace hotel, and everywhere in between for amazing EATS. It definitely was a sampler of L.A. for those short 5 days — enough for me to leave with the excitement of coming back real soon!
